What you can expect from Strand Nursing?

From the moment you contact Strand Nursing, you can expect an exceptional level of service from our dedicated Private Clients Team, who will take care of everything, from your first call to the delivery of your personally tailored care package.

How does Strand Nursing design a bespoke service to meet my needs?

At Strand Nursing, we strive to understand your needs exactly. When we receive your initial enquiry, our team will take the time to understand your needs and address any concerns you may have. We will discuss your specific care requirements with you and get to know your personality and preferences.

What is a free care assessment?

We will arrange for a member of our Care Team to visit you and carry out a comprehensive assessment, in a location most comfortable for you, to discuss your care and social needs. We welcome you to have family, consultants or your GP present should you wish.

What is a bespoke care plan?

Once we have an understanding of your care needs we will then prepare your bespoke care plan. This will not only include information on any medication you may be taking and details of any conditions you may have, but also the little things that make a difference, such as how you take your tea, what products you prefer in your bath and when you would like your meals.

How do we build a care team for your service?

Following the development of your care plan we will identify suitable healthcare staff to support you in-line with your care requirements. To ensure we provide a truly bespoke service, we will recruit and train workers specific to your requirements where necessary, and arrange for you to meet with the identified healthcare staff to ensure that you and your family are happy.

What customer care support will I receive once the care has started?

Once your care service has commenced you will have the central support of our Private Clients Team, who will review our service with you on a regular basis to ensure you are satisfied. Your care plan will be reviewed every six months, and we provide supervisions, and spot checks of (to) our care staff to maintain standards at all times.

We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver completely bespoke care packages by blending our care services to meet each of our client’s needs. Our dedicated Private Clients Team would be happy to discuss care options for you or a loved one and work with you to ensure your needs are fully met and put you completely at ease.

Care Quality

How can I be assured that Strand Nursing is a high quality service provider?

We recommend that you consider Strand Nursing, an established high quality care provider. The quality and safety of care that we deliver underpins everything that we do. We offer our clients and their relatives’ peace of mind that they are being cared for in the safest, most professional way possible.

What makes Strand Nursing a truly premium service?

At Strand Nursing our dedicated private clients’ team have extensive experience and an in-depth understanding of providing care services in the home. The team will manage the entire process of setting up your care package; from your initial enquiry where they will take time to understand every element of your care requirement, through to the delivery of care, in which they will provide a continued support service.

How do I know that your Care at Home service is safe?

Strand Nursing is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who ensure that we manage and deliver care that meets legal standards within the healthcare sector. We are regularly inspected by CQC to ensure that we are always meeting our legal duties, and our inspection reports are available for all of our clients to view at any time.

Strand Nursing also has internal clinical governance teams that carry out regular audits and extensive checks to ensure that our staff and the care they provide is appropriate and safe.

Where can I find your CQC report?

Private Home Care Costs

How much does Private Home Care cost?

When you commission care from Strand Nursing you can be assured of high quality services from fully trained and supported healthcare staff. Privately funded care at home, or around-the-clock live in care costs will vary depending on the social or clinical care requirements. We can provide an estimate within 24 hours, and a fully costed quotation following a comprehensive assessment organised at a time to suit you.

How will you quote for the full cost of Private Care?

At Strand Nursing we have extensive experience in putting together packages of care from a few hours a week, to complex care support delivered by teams of nurses. We can discuss estimated prices by phone and a full breakdown of the costs for recommended care services in writing after an assessment has taken place.

Will Private Care Costs change over time?

We are fully transparent about the costs of care from your initial enquiry and throughout your care. Each year your care package will be reviewed and you will be told about any annual increases, for example, due to changes in care staff wages, or increased care services.

How much does Strand Nursing charge for an initial assessment?

There is no charge for an initial assessment. We will fully assess your care needs and provide a no-obligation quotation. You will not be asked to make any payments until your care is due to start, except on occasion where we need to arrange for your carers to undergo bespoke training for complex care procedures.

Is Live-In Care better than moving to Residential Care?

Everyone is unique and when an individual’s medical care needs become more intense residential care can be the answer. However, for many people, remaining at home in comfortable, familiar surroundings is often preferable. Strand Nursing’s private care at home is also a flexible service. It can start with social or overnight care and supplemented or revised as care needs change.

Can Strand Nursing provide costings for Complex Care services?

Yes, at Strand Nursing we have specialist care staff and we can quote for complex conditions, such as brain and spinal injury care, intravenous medication, tracheostomy care and palliative care, all supervised by our nurses. We will recommend the best level of care for you and provide a comprehensive quote so that you have full detail of (the) costs up front.

Is Live-In Care expensive?

Depending on the needs of the client, a full time live-in carer can be cheaper than a team of healthcare staff providing care on a rota. A live-in carer can also provide food preparation, transport and household chores, rather than arranging this on top of care support.

Do you quote for Respite Care costs?

At Strand Nursing we can arrange temporary live-in care services for families that require short-term care at home. Our high quality Respite Care offers family members time for themselves, or the chance to go on holiday with the peace of mind that their loved one is in good hands.

Can I use NHS or local authority funding to supplement Home Care costs?

Clients may qualify for some funding from their local authority or the NHS.

Can I use my attendance allowance towards Strand Nursing care cost?

Yes, you can use your Attendance Allowance (AA) to funding home care costs. This allowance (either £58.70 or £87.65 per week) is available to anyone over 65. This is a non-means tested, tax free allowance and usually added to pension payments. The attendance allowance is only for personal care costs. For more information visit www.gov.uk/attendance-allowance.

Can I use my Personal Health Budget for Strand Nursing care?

Yes, you can use a Personal Health Budget to pay towards your Strand Nursing care costs. Anyone who receives NHS Continuing Healthcare as the result of a long-term illness, condition or disability can move to a Personal Healthcare Budget to fund ongoing healthcare. The amount of money available depends on the identified healthcare needs of the individual.

Eligible recipients may use their Personal Health Budget to make their own arrangements for the provision of care from an independent care provider. They can also consult their GP to discuss care options and develop a suitable care plan.
